The Blake Bortles train has a lot of steam since his fantasy football-friendly 2015 season with 35 touchdown passes. Now, a report has surfaced suggesting passengers are trying to do anything they can to keep it on track.

During a Saturday night practice, Bortles fired five interceptions, which was a red flag for one person in particular in the Jacksonville organization.

According to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said making things easier for Bortles might be the best idea:

“I think any time someone doesn’t perform to what you want to do, you’re concerned about it,” Marrone said. “He’s not the only one that’s out there. There’s some good things.

“We’re going to look at it. We’re going to look at those plays. If there’s any struggle or things we don’t like, then obviously we’re going to be smart enough to throw that crap out.”

When a team is potentially going to take things out of the playbook to make up for a four-year veteran’s deficiency, that is pretty scary.

At this rate, Bortles may never reach his full potential as the third overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. By the way, that first-round has quickly become the anti-Class of ’83 for quarterbacks. Two other quarterbacks were selected in the ’14 first round…Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater. Ouch.

In case you’re wondering, Jacksonville’s backup quarterback is Chad Henne.

Thoughts and prayers with Jaguars fans this evening.
